Delhi Crime is a reflection of our passion for storytelling: Shefali Shah

Actress Shefali Shah is back with the second season of her critically acclaimed show Delhi Crime, a project that gave her the “super special” DCP character Vartika Chaturvedi. The Netflix streaming service released the official trailer for the new season on Monday which sees DCP Vartika Chaturvedi (Shah) conduct another crucial investigation with her team – newly promoted Neeti Singh (Rasika Duggal) and Vartika’s right-hand man, Bhupendra Singh aka Bhupi (Rajesh Tailang).

Shah said the series’ second chapter will explore the “human and vulnerable side” of its characters. “I love all the characters I’ve played but DCP Vartika Chaturvedi will always be super special. And I’m so proud of the role and Delhi Crime as a series. She’s my favourite. And so is her. As a As an actor, it’s rewarding to play roles like these.

“This season, audiences will see a human and vulnerable side to these seasoned police officers. I can say it with pride, Delhi Crime is a reflection of our passion for storytelling and craftsmanship and we can’t wait for audiences to watch it,” said the 49-year-old actor, who currently stars in Darlings directed by Alia Bhatt. , said in a statement.

The second season, which debuts on Netflix on August 26, follows a series of gruesome murders in Delhi that keep Chaturvedi and his crew on their toes.

Much like its first season, which won Best Drama Series at the 48th International Emmy Awards in 2020, the upcoming episode is also inspired by real events.

Filmmaker Richie Mehta, who directed the first season, is attached as season two creator.

Tanuj Chopra is the showrunner and director of the second season, which is written by Mayank Tewari, Shubhra Swarup and Ensia Mirza.

Chopra said the second season of Delhi Crime will investigate the moral code of the Delhi Police.

“DCP Vartika Chaturvedi and his team have evolved from the previous season. We will see them weighing a lot of tough choices…whether procedural or emotional,” he added.

Actors Adil Hussain, Anurag Arora, Yashaswini Dayama, Sidharth Bhardwaj, Gopal Dutt, Denzil Smith, Tillotama Shome, Jatin Goswami, Vyom Yadav and Ankit Sharma complete the cast.

Virat Basoya and Samyuktha Chawla Shaikh wrote the dialogues. SK Global Entertainment, Golden Karavan and Film Karavan are the producers.
