British indie Passion Distribution is showcasing two risque new formats as part of its second online format sessions as well as its annual in-person Showcase event, which is scheduled for March 2.

The first series, love in the flesh (8 x 45 min.), tests the strength of online relationships by bringing together couples who are virtually dating at a beach house, where they will meet in person for the first time and find out if their chemistry still works in person. The reality format also includes a competitive element in which couples complete challenges that will test various aspects of their relationship.

Hosted by former Love Island star Zara McDermott (pictured), love in the flesh was commissioned by BBC Three from female-led independent production company Ten66 Television.

Passion’s second flagship format is Open (w/t), commissioned from Firecracker Films by Channel 4 as part of the broadcaster’s Global Format Fund, an initiative designed to boost new format productions with international appeal from UK independents.

The series will explore the growing prevalence of open relationships by bringing together six couples who have an interest in trying out the swinger lifestyle with a group of “sexually adventurous singles” at a luxury hotel and spa, where their interactions will be managed and overseen by a team. expert in sex therapists and relationship coaches. As participants test their limits and those of their partner, they will discover whether or not their relationship can be sustained once the number increases from two to three (or more).
