The Passion Project shows ‘Transitions’

On July 30, photographer Brook Hedge will exhibit her extraordinary photographs in an exhibition titled “Transitions” at the Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery at the Sandwich Center. Join her from 5 to 7 p.m. at a reception to meet the artist.

After 40 years in the legal profession, Hedge is thrilled to pursue her lifelong passion. “Transitions” includes both landscapes and still images. Each photograph invites the viewer to linger for a moment in contemplation. Using a range of techniques, Hedge begins a story; both calm and peaceful, maybe a little surreal, or maybe a little whimsical, but still intriguing. Hedge’s photographs offer a unique experience in the world seen through a very skilled eye.

This exhibition also includes Hedge’s large format photographs mounted on aluminum. The process gives them the feeling of a contemporary painting. “Emergent”, for example, can be read as a human/organic form or as a landscape. In “Fireworks” we see an extraordinarily calm lake with fiery autumn foliage reflected in mirror water. It’s hard to get out of either room.

Hedge is a newcomer to the local art scene who now splits her time between Center Sandwich and Lewes, Delaware. Both locations offer a wealth of opportunities for his work. Our community is fortunate to add their talent to their roster of artists.

Hedge’s work has been widely exhibited in the Delaware and Washington, DC area. Over the years, she has won awards for her work and is artist-in-residence at the Peninsula Gallery, one of Delaware’s most famous, located in Lewes. His work is contained in collections here and abroad.

The Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery is located at 69 Maple Street in Center Sandwich. For more information about the gallery, visit or call 603-284-7728.
